Abstract
1,229,224. Transferring liquid cargoes. INDUSTRIEELE HANDELSCOMBINATIE HOLLAND N.V. 7 Nov., 1968 [28 Dec., 1967], No. 52863/68. Heading B8E. [Also in Division E1] A buoy providing moorings and support for supply pipelines has separate turn-tables supporting the moorings and pipelines respectively. A buoy 1 has an opening 3 through which extend pipes 5 leading to connections 7 for floating pipes 22 for connection to a ship. The connections 7 are supported by a turn-table 8 having a bearing 9 on the buoy and counterweighted by a lifting device 10. The parts are relatively light so that the turn-table 8 easily follows swinging of the pipes 22. The moorings are provided for ropes 25 at 24 on arms pivoted at 14 on a separate turn-table 11 having bearings 12 on the buoy 2 and being provided with a roller assembly 16 running on rails 17, 18 to take up vertical forces. A counter weight 23 is provided for the turn-table which can be of sufficiently heavy construction to moor large tankers while the turn-table 8 remains light enough to follow the pipes 22. To set the turntables 8, 11 at the desired angle they may be driven relative to each other by power mechanism and the set angle may be maintained by coupling the turn-tables together.
