Abstract
1,228,994. Continuous casting. L. DANIELI. 16 April, 1968 [17 April, 1967], No. 17945/68. Heading B3F. [Also in Division F2] In order to be resiliently bendable in one plane of its axis but not at right angles to that plane, a starter bar has consecutive hollow sections joined by pins 6 or 14 to be relatively pivotable against the action of leaf springs 3 or U-springs 12 or Belleville springs 12<SP>1</SP> or rubber mountings (9). The leaf springs 3 are bolted to one end of a member 2 which has a fork at the other end for receiving slidably the ends of the next set of springs and which is welded at 17 to the bar section containing those springs. The bar sections of Fig. 1 are made as box-forms by casting or by welding four plates. In the other embodiments, each section is of tang-andhollow form, the tang of one section moving in the hollow of the next, the end 8 of the tang being engaged between the resilient members at the closed end of the hollow. Dummy bar sections may be coupled together to produce a bar of doubled or trebled section.
