Abstract

1,228,834. Folding apparatus. PITNEY BOWES Inc. 14 May, 1968 [18 May, 1967], No. 22803/68. Heading B8R. A buckle folding apparatus comprises a buckle shoot having a movable end stop which is settable by adjustment with reference to a specimen folded sheet. In an embodiment, Figs. 1 and 5 two buckle shoots 62 and 64 are each provided with a movable end stop 154 and 286 respectively. The stop 154 is coupled to an indicator 386 and stop 286 to an indicator 388. A reference sheet S is placed with an edge against a reference surface 378 (for the upper shoot) or 380 (for the lower shoot) and the appropriate indicator moved into alignment with a fold in the sheet. This movement sets the associated stop to fold sheets fed into the apparatus in the same position. Each indicator is also associated with a scale so that the stops may be set to provide a measured fold length when required. For this purpose the indicators and stops may be moved by thumb wheels 230, 350.
