Abstract

122,784. Ingram, W., and Hurlin, H. July 8, 1918. Reservoir brushes.-A brush for applying varnishes, dopes, &c. comprises a hollow handle A, to which a flexible supply pipe may be connected. and a connecting-piece G between the handle and bristles F surrounding the lower shouldered portion D of the handle which forms a valve body having a transverse passage H, into which the varnish &c. flows past the valve K and thence to a series of nozzles Q leading across an intermediate space C to beyond the fixing zone E of the bristles. The valve K consists of a sliding rod with a conical head normally held on its seat in a slceve J by a spring L but operated against the action of the spring by means of a hinged lever M. located between the valve and the fixing zone E and ewtending to the outside of the handle. Small tubes T may be placed around the nozzles Q where they pass through the fixing zone E of the bristles.
