Abstract

1,227,566. Electric couplings. A.B. ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS Ltd. 22 May, 1969 [22 May, 1968], No. 24429/68. Heading H2E. Connections to conductors in a tape cable 13 are made by teeth 26 on contacts 22 when a member 18 is rotated so as to pull the cable against the teeth, the cable being preferably clamped by the housing 10, 11. The rotatable member may have a screwdriver slot 21 for rotation, and flat 19 on its cylindrical surface to facilitate insertion of the cable. The contacts are held longitudinally in carrier 23 by shoulders 24, 25 and are pressed into contact with the cable by spring 27 and rubber support 12. The contact terminals may be arranged to suit wires wrapped or soldered on, or a plug-in connector. Two cables may be joined using contacts with teeth at both ends in a symmetrical housing.
