Abstract

Heading G1X An instrument for measuring angles on workpieces comprises two pivotably inter-connected leg members 2, 10 having edges 2<SP>1</SP>, 10<SP>1</SP> for engagement with the workpiece, and a circular disc-like measuring scale 36 which is detachably secured to the pivot point of the members 2, 10 by a screw threaded member (not shown), a pin 22 on the leg 10 co-operating with a recess (not shown) on the scale 36 serving to locate the scale and leg member 10 with respect to each other, the desired angle then being read off using a vernier scale 20 marked on a raised portion 16 of the leg member 2 adjacent the periphery of the scale 36. In use the angle set by the leg members 2, 10 is measured by subsequent securing in place of the scale 36. The leg member 2 is provided with a groove 14 for attachment of a further leg member at right angles thereto, if desired.
