Abstract

1,224,249. Reciprocating pumps. GIRLING Ltd. Aug.18, 1969 [Aug.31, 1968], No.41732/68 Addition to 1, 221, 827. Heading F1A. A pump which stalls at a predetermined output pressure comprises a bucket piston 35 moved on its suction stroke by cams or eccentrics 21, 22 acting on a hollow stirrup 28 fixed to the piston, and moved on its delivery stroke by spring 34. Liquid enters pump housing chamber 13 via inlet 15 and is drawn into cylinder 24 via bucket valve 32 on the suction stroke. Delivery is effected via a passage with a check valve at the left-hand end of cylinder 24, Fig. 2 (not shown). Cylinder 24 is formed in a spigot 23 extending from the left-hand end of the pump housing. Drive shaft 17 is supported by bearings 18, 19.
