Abstract

1,223,762. Brassiere pads. SILVECO PRODUCTS Inc. 13 May, 1968, No. 22696/68. Heading A3V. A brassiere pad is formed from at least one blank 43 of bonded non-woven fibrous batting having rough fluffy surfaces and cut, sized and shaped to provide panels whose marginal edges 45, 46 are secured (47), Fig. 24 (not shown), the panels being moulded into the shape of a brassiere pad 50a, Fig. 37, with at least one smooth surface. The blank is made of polyester fibre bonded with a thermoplastic resin adhesive sprayed thereon. In one embodiment a blank 43 is used to form an outer layer and a smaller blank 44 is stitched along 45a, 46a and nested within and stitched to the outer layer. The article is then moulded between electrically heated members 35d, 37d, Fig. 37, which reduce its thickness and form smooth inner and/or outer surfaces. In other embodiments the pads are formed in a single layer. The pads may be full pads, contour pads or full inflation pads and are arranged within the cloth cups (60) of a brassiere (61), Figs. 50, 51 (not shown).
