Abstract

1,222,797. Shovelling machines. POCLAIN. 14 March, 1969 [8 April, 1968], No. 13470/69. Heading E1F. In an earth-working machine comprising a chassis 1, a counterweight-carrying superstructure 4 rotatably mounted on the chassis and an earth-working implement - carrying boom 8 pivoted on the superstructure, the superstructure is so supported by parallel linkage means 5, 6 on the upper part of a turntable structure mounted on the chassis that the superstructure can be displaced bodily in a direction at right angles to the axis of rotation of the superstructure. This construction permits of suitable adjustment of the centre of gravity of the machine in accordance with the work to be done by the machine. Preferably the linkage comprises a pair of parallel arms 5, 6 of which the arm 5 is in the form of a relatively wide plate on which a ram 5 acts. The ram 7 can be pivotally connected between the plate 5 and either the superstructure or the turntable.
