Abstract

In a fastener comprising a pair of opposed spring loaded slidable bolts 16, 17 and a pivotal manually operable member 13 for operating the bolts simultaneously, the fastener is provided with a manual control 24 accessible from the side at which the manually operable member 13 is disposed and movable between a position in which the bolts can be retained in their retracted positions and a position in which the bolts are free to move towards their projected positions, the manual control operating a spring 25 which in the position to retain the bolts engages an extension 16b of one of the bolts and which in the other position is disposed out of the path of travel of that bolt. As shown, the member 13 engages the bolt 16 which is provided with an extension 16a which bears on a follower 18. The bolt 17 is also provided with an extension 17a which is surrounded by a spring 21 sur-. rounding a guide rod 20. The spring 25 is a plate spring having an aperture 25a which is engageable with the extension 16b of bolt 16 in one position of the control 24.
