Abstract
1,220,175. 220, 175. Heat insulating jackets for exhaust gas driven superchargers. G. & B. CO. (LEICESTER) Ltd. April 2, 1969 [Feb. 23, 1968], No. 8867/68. Headings F1B and F1G. [Also in Division F2] The heat insulating means provided by the invention consists of a hollow and suitably apertured jacket 19 adapted to be secured in position upon and to embrace the turbine casing 10 of a turbocharger T of an internal-combustion engine. The jacket is of laminated form comprising an inner metal skin 20 wholly or for the most part of single thickness, an intermediate relatively thick wall 21 of a suitably bonded glass fibre material which covers and is secured to the metal skin by a heat resistant ceramic based adhesive cement adapted to withstand an appropriately high continuous working temperature and an outer layer of asbestos 22 secured by an indentical or similar adhesive cement.
