Abstract

121,875. Speaker, G. R. March 13, 1918. Roofs; ceilings.-A principal rafter 1 and its trusses or struts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 are made of channel-iron with welded joints. Two such trussed rafters spanning the building are bolted together at the ridge A and are connected between the trusses by a tie-beam 6 with bolting tongues 28. Each rafter may have a welded bearing plate 16 to be bolted if desired to longer plates on the walls. Such rafters support channel metal purline 8 on which in turn metal battens 10 are arranged. When a ceiling is required, stringers 12, Fig. 13, to which the ceiling sheets are attached, are suspended by hangers 13 hooked on the trusses and the beam 6.
