Abstract

1,216,591. Baling presses. VAN DER ZWAN N.V. 26 April, 1968 [28 April, 1967], No. 20026/68. Heading B5F. [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for pressing voluminous fibrous material such as wood shavings into bales and packaging the bales into bags, comprises a vertical shaft 7 the bottom of which is provided with a tubular outlet 12 opposite which is disposed a reciprocable tool 11. The end of the outlet is covered by a bag 14, of e.g., polythene. In operation, the shaft is fed with a predetermined amount of material from a side mounted box 2 having a pivotable bottom and the material is compressed to the level shown in the Figure by a vertical tool. The bale 16, thus formed, is then expelled, by tool 11, from the shaft into the outlet 12, this causing the bale 15 formed by the preceding cycle to be expelled from the outlet together with the bag on to takeoff conveyer 18. During the expulsion the bale 16 is compressed due to the resistance to movement of the bale 15 within the outlet.
