Abstract

1,215,322. Packaging. FISONS FERTILIZERS Ltd. 15 Oct., 1968 [26 Sept., 1967], No. 43714/67. Heading B8C. A machine for compressing substances such as peat into bags e.g. of polythene comprises a bale box 1, a vertically reciprocable ram 3, a shoot 4, and means such as a power cylinder 6 for tilting the top of the bale box from a position below the ram to a position below the shoot. As shown, the volume of the box 1 is varied by an adjustable sleeve 2 which carries a closure plate 11 for sealing of the shoot 4 after the box has been filled and moved to the position shown; the shoot which is positioned below a feed conveyer has a flap 12 for controlling the entry of material into the shoot and adapted to operate a switch 13 for starting and stopping the conveyer. The box 1 is hinged at 5 and has a closure plate 7 which flexes to spread pressures evenly over the area of the base of the box. The latter is provided with a door through which empty bags and filled bags can be loaded and removed.
