Abstract

1,216,025. Roof flashing. L. G. JAMIESON. 26 June, 1969 [21 Feb., 1969], No. 32303/69. Heading E1W. A flat roof flashing construction comprises a flashing of L-shaped cross-section providing a seating between its base 15, secured to the roof deck 10 'by means of nails 16 in expansion slots 17, and its back 12 for a cant 14 of insulating material. The flashing is strengthened by brackets 20 between which cants are fitted. Layers or roofing felt 22, 23, 24 are layed over the cant 14 and surmounted by two layers of felt flashing 25 reacting from above the cant to a short distance beyond the base 15. A weather-proof flashing membrane 26 is layed above the felt and secured along its top edge to the back 12 crimped between the two flanges 28, 30 of the bracket 32. A facia assembly 34, 36 surmounts the bracket 32 and is retained under a lip 39 on the wall 18. Pitch and gravel poured over the membrane 26, flashing felts 25 and roofing felts 22, 23, 24 completes the construction. Another embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown) incorporates a corrugated metal roof 44 to which the L-shaped flashing element is secured and surmounted by fibrous insulation overlay 48 onto which the cant 50 is placed in a similar fashion as .before.
