Abstract

1,213,921. Fluid operated telescopic rams. TAMPELLA AB OY. March 26, 1969 [March 27, 1968] No.15814/69. Heading F1P. [Also in Division F3] A loading appliance 1 for ramming a shell into the barrel of a gun comprises a plurality of telescopic push rods 4, 5, 6 arranged to be extended by pressurized fluid and contracted by a spring 8. The telescopic push rods 4, 5, 6 are prevented from disengagement with each other in their extended state by co-operating collers on the rods. The inner rod 6 is provided with a headpiece 7 for engagement with a shell and for anchoring one end if the ramp 8. The appliance 1 is provided with a handle 3 which incorporates a spring loaded valve 17 which in its rest position vents the interior of the rods 4, 5, 6 to atmosphere but in its actuated position allows pressurized fluid passing through a flexible tube 27 and socket 15 to enter the interior of the rods. A projecting lug 14 is provided on the forward end of the auto rod 4 for engagement with a abutment on the gun Fig. 2 (not shown). The fluid inlet may be at the side of the handle Figs.2, 3, (not shown).
