Abstract

1,212,394. Packaging machine. SUNDS A.B. 12 Feb., 1968 [20 Feb., 1967], No. 6742/68. Heading B8C. Carton blanks 10 are fed from the bottom of a pile 2 by a pneumatic kick feeder (not shown) on to a vertically movable plate 5 of a folding mechanism 3 (as described in Specification 1,096,321), articles, e.g. tins, are pushed by a manually-operated device (not shown) from a table 32 supplied with articles on to each blank 10 as it rests on the plate 5, the blank 10 is folded around the tins by fixed and movable members 6 and 7 as the blank 10 moves vertically downwardly and then horizontally off the plate 5, and the cartons are sealed while moving vertically up a tower 4 to be discharged at the top, an adjustable stop 14 and a guide 11 ensuring that the point C of the blank always assumes the same position on the plate 5 irrespective of blank size. The pile 2 is located by fixed abutments 22 and adjustable abutments 23 on a blank feed table 13 displaceable with respect to the folding mechanism 3 by a crank 18. The table 13 is provided with driven rollers 24, 29, 30 and an undriven gravity-loaded roller 25 for feeding blanks 10 on to the plate 5. A guide 35 deflects the outer side flap 10a of the blank 10 beneath the article feed table 32 (which is bevelled at 32a to this end).
