Abstract

1,211,863. Electrostatographic developers. RANK XEROX Ltd. Oct. 4, 1967 [Oct.11, 1966], No.45221/67. Heading G2H. [Also in Divisions B2, C3 and H1] Electrostatographic carrier particles comprise a core coated with a polyphenylene oxide resin. Preferably the resin is of formula: (in which R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>11</SP> are each H or alkyl having together up to 12 C atoms, and n is at least 25), and is preferably mixed with a second resin, e.g. optionally modified natural, polyolefine, polyvinyl, acrylic, polystyrene, polyvinylidene, fluorocarbon, polyester, polyurethane, polysulphide, polycarbonate, epoxy, phenolic and formaldehyde resins and copolymers of unsaturated organo-silicon compounds with other unsaturated monomers. The core may be NaCl, NH 4 Cl, AlKCl 4 , Rochelle salt, NaNO 3 , KClO 3 , Zr, Si, methyl methacrylate, glass, SiO 2 , flintshot, Fe, steel, ferrite, Ni, and/or SiC.
