Abstract

1,211,324. Vehicle window lever operating mechanism. H. T. GOLDE G.m.b.H. 6 March, 1969 [16 April, 1968], No. 11982/69. Heading E2M. [Also in Division F2] A vehicle window raising and lowering mechanism, with a. lifting lever 12 which can be given a swinging motion and moved longitudinally to ensure that its outer end follows a straight path in the direction of movement of the window, also comprises two swinging arms 16 and 19 of different lengths and having a common fixed pivot, the two arms being driven in opposite directions and the lever 12 forming a link between them, the shorter arm 16 being pivoted to the inner end of the link 12 and the longer arm 19 acting on the link 12 through a thrust articulation beyond which the outer end of the link 12 projects and acts on the bottom edge of the window 1. In the preferred embodiment the shorter arm or guide arm 16 has an enlarged segment 24 with teeth 25 and the longer arm or operating arm 19 has attached to it a segment 26 with teeth 27, the toothed edges being concentric about the bolt 18 which forms the fixed common pivot of the two arms, and both toothed edges being in mesh with a driving pinion 28 between them. The thrust articulation between the lever 12 and the operating arm 19 comprises a shoe 20 pivoted to the end of the arm 19 and sliding on the lever 12, the inner surfaces of the shoe 20 being coated with PTFE. A spring 32 is arranged as in Fig. 2 to assist the window closing operation, and the whole assembly may 'be mounted on a base plate 17 to which the bolt 18 and the drive shaft casing are secured (Fig. 3, not shown). The driving pinion 28 may be operated by a hand crank or coupled to an electric motor. A method of attaching the lever 12 to the window is described.
