Abstract
1,210,221. Balanced flues. IDEAL-STANDARD Ltd. 9 Jan., 1968 [10 Jan., 1967], No. 1395/67. Heading F4J. A balanced flue terminal, adapted to be installed in a wall 3 of a building, comprises an air inlet duct 6 opening into a main duct 2, a flue exit duct 7 extending beyond the external face 4 of the wall, and baffle means 9 arranged in front of the discharge end 8 of the flue exit 7 to prevent incident wind creating a higher pressure at the flue exit than. at the air inlet. In other embodiments the baffle means comprises a pair of plates (see Fig. 3) so dimensioned as to extend fully across and beyond the open front end of the main duct 2, the discharge end of the flue exit 7 being connected to the inner of the plates so that the flue gases pass into the space between the two plates. Fin members can be arranged at the front end of the main duct 2 radiating outwardly from the exit duct 7, in order to increase the static pressure in the intake duct 2. The flue terminal includes a grid 12 fitted over the air inlet and flue exit to prevent the ingress of foreign matter.
