Abstract

1,209,504. Packaging and truing apparatus. AUGUST WICKERSHEIM K.G. 14 March, 1968 [18 July, 1967], No. 12333/68. Heading B8C. Articles, e.g. journals, newspapers &c., to be packaged in heat shrinkable plastics foil are conveyed in stacks A via feed belt 12 or 13 to a truing plate 23 having air inlets 24 to cushion the stacks. Gripper arms 26-29, provided with guide rails 40, are diagonally movable by drive means 30-33, e.g. hydraulic or pneumatic drive cylinders, Fig. 9, the drive means being activated by the stack A crossing a light barrier 37 or 37a. The gripper arms 26, 27 operate after the arms 28, 29, the latter pair returning to the starting position when a second stack breaks the second light barrier. The arms 26, 27 then move along guide rails 34, 35 so pushing the stack on to a conveyer 14 and thence into the packaging and heat shrinking areas 15, 16. A third feed belt (38), Fig. 3 (not shown), perpendicular to the belts 12, 13 may be provided on the front side of the truing table 11. The compressed air may be controlled by the light barriers.
