Abstract

1,208,926. Endless conveyers for cigarettes. MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd. 21 Aug., 1969 [22 May, 1968], No. 24424/68. Heading B8A. Apparatus for feeding cigarettes and other rod-like articles as a stack moving transversely to the lengths of the articles, includes means for accelerating the articles so that the article flow changes from a relatively slow stack moving substantially horizontally, to a faster and thinner stack moving still in substantially the same direction, the accelerator comprising converging conveyers engaging the upper and lower surfaces of the stack, one of the converging conveyers being a roller 3 which bends the surface of the stack abruptly, approximately at right angles. As shown, the roller 3 engages the upper surface of the stack. The lower conveyer is a band conveyer 5 moving along a curved path so as to present a concave surface to the cigarette stack in the region of cigarette acceleration.
