[Also in Division G1 20 21 In an electrical control apparatus for the infinite adjustment of the limitation of the working travel of a tool carrier 1, each limitation point of the travel is associated with a resistance bridge 11, 12 connected to a null indicator 10, 13, the outputs of which are fed to respective store and erasure inputs 14, 15 of a store 16 which is followed in the circuit by an amplifier 17 for controlling the limitation adjusting member 18. As shown, a tool carrier 1 of a honing machine is coupled for movement with a pair of sliders 2 of tandem potentiometers 3. Single potentiometers 4, 7 in the bridges 11, 12 are arranged in a control desk and are set manually to the required limitation points 5, 8. The tool carrier 1 is positioned outside the limits of travel for the starting position and upon commencing work, the potential of the bridge 11 causes the null indicator 10 to produce an L signal and the potential of the bridge 12 causes the null indicator 13 to produce an O signal. Since only an L signal at the store input 14 or 15 determines the switching condition of the store, the appearance of the L signal at input 14 causes an L signal to pass from the store to energize the limitation adjustment member 18 via the amplifier 17. The tool carrier then travels inside the limits of travel and moves the sliders 2. When the limitation point 5 is passed, the switching condition of the store 16 remains unchanged and the carrier travels onwards to pass limitation point 8 and cause an L signal to be delivered from the bridge 12 via null indicator 13 to erasure input 15 of the store, the output to the limitation adjusting member 18 changing to an O signal for reversing the movement of the carrier. Movement of the carrier back past the limitation point 8 does not change the switching condition of the store 16. When the sliders 2 pass the limitation point 5 in the reverse direction, a fresh L signal is delivered and the carrier is once again reversed. The process is repeated until the control apparatus is switched off, causing the tool carrier to return to its initial position. An additional control apparatus such as a programme control 20 or a position measurement system 21, may be plugged in at 19 to the inputs of the store 16 so as to automatically influence the working travel within the manually adjusted limits.
