Abstract

1,205,583. Mowers. BRUFF MFG. CO. Ltd. 24 Jan., 1968 [27 Jan., 1967], No. 4145/67. Heading A1F. A mowing machine comprises a plurality of rotating cutting elements 17, with their shaft 17a inclined downwardly and rearwardly at a small angle to the vertical, mounted in echelon arrangement on a body 10, coupled to a boom 13 attached to the front of a tractor. The cutting elements are driven from the tractor and the weight of the mower is partially supported on adjustable ground-engaging castor wheels 15, 16. One of the cutters is coupled to hydraulic motor 21 and hence to tank and pump unit 22 driven from the power takeoff of the tractor, the rotating motion of the one cutter being transmitted to the others by means of pulleys 18 and driving belts 19. Alternatively each cutter can be provided with an hydraulic motor or other mechanical drive means from the tractor. The blade of each cutter has a bowed strengthening strip 17b.
