Abstract

1,204,159. Card winding. BANDINDUSTRI A.B. 6 Oct., 1967 [14 Nov., 1966], No. 45875/67. Heading D1J. An automatic card winding machine comprises a means for clamping the card on the end of a rotatable shaft 1, and a means 12 for guiding thread (or ribbon) onto the card so that after winding the thread onto the card the tail portion of the thread lies adjacent the end of the support which is remote from the shaft 1. There is also a means 5, 6 for ejecting the card axially of the shaft 1 at the end of winding and a means 7, 10 for cutting the thread. There is also a gripping member 65 comprising a hooked needle extending generally parallel with the shaft 1 and mounted on a gripping shaft 64 which is concentric with the shaft 1. The arrangement is such that after winding and as a result of rotating the gripping shaft 64 the hooked needle 65 engages the tail of the thread and presses it against the card, and after cutting of the thread and ejection of the card from the machine, the tail portion is drawn between the card and the thread wound thereon. Preferably, the guide 12 is moved stepwise along the card and is controlled by a card revolution counter. At the end of winding the guide 12 may be moved away from the card.
