Abstract
1,200,914. Hot water supply systems; central heating systems. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. 16 Aug., 1967 [25 Aug., 1966], No. 37607/67. Headings F4A and F4U. [Also in Division F1] In a hot water circulation system, such as a district heating system, having a circulation pump 1 driven by a turbine 3 using the same working fluid, a heater 2 between the pump and the turbine heats the water to nearly its saturation temperature so that on expansion through the turbine some of the water evaporates into steam. The system includes a heat consumer 6, storage tank 7, motor-driven starting pump 9 and a by-pass line 5 from the pump outlet to inject water into the region 4 at the outlet of the turbine runner to condense the steam formed and thus prevent cavitation in the runner. Control of the water flow in response to water temperature or pressure is effected by controlling a by-pass around the turbine or by throttling the turbine outlet.
