Abstract

1,200,910. Line floats. D. H. HARRIS. 1 Nov., 1968 [1 Dec., 1967], No. 54698/67. Heading A1A. [Also in Division G1] In a device for indicating the depth of liquid in a container or river a float 2 is attached to a line 15, such as a fishing line, weighted at 17 and the arrangement is such that the line 15 is initially inserted between a slot 11 and around a hooked portion 5 of the float 2, weighted by lead shot 7 in recesses 6, so that as the weight 17 sinks to the bottom the line disengages the hook 5 and the float 2 slides along the line until the weight 17 reaches the bottom and when the line 15 and float 2 is withdrawn from the liquid the float 2 tilts to grip the line 15 by the sides of the slot 11 or jaws 13, 14 provided in the slot 11. The distance from the float 2 to the weight 17 can then be measured and if required the fishing float 16 moved to the position of float 2.
