Abstract

1,198,674. Heated windows. COMPAGNIE DE SAINT-GOBAIN. 13 Sept., 1967 [13 Sept., 1966], No. 41808/67. Heading H5H. A heated window pane comprising a plurality of resistance strips 2 sealed to one side of a glass sheet 1 and connected to a collector strip 3 sealed to one edge of the sheet is secured in a groove in one side of a rubber sealing-ring 6 attached by its other groove to, for example, the coachwork of a vehicle, the width A of the longitudinal portion of the collector strip uncovered by the sealing ring is sufficient by itself to supply a proportion of the heating current to the resistance strips 2. Such an arrangement is stated to prevent uneven heating of the pane caused by chemical and mechanical attack of the points of connection between the collector strip 3 and resistance strips 2 which occurs when the collector 3 is completely covered by the sealing ring 6. Metal is electrodeposited on the resistance and collector strips to increase their conductivity.
