Abstract

Apparatus for detecting various weather parameters, e.g. temperature, wind, rain and solar radiation, and for providing a related pneumatic signal which may be used in the contol of an air-conditioned space such as inside a greenhouse 2, comprises an air-filled container 1 located so as to be subject to the ambient weather, the container 1 being connected to a variable volume reservoir 3 with signal conduit 4 leading to lating apparatus, and also to a constant pressure source e.g. the atmosphere by way of a pneumatic flow resistance e.g. a capillary tube 5. Changes in weather conditions cause a change of pressure on the container 1 which is transmitted to the regulating apparatus, the pressure change being gradually cancelled by the effect of the capillary tube 5. A manometer 6 may also be provided. In alternative embodiments, the container 1 may be disposed partly inside the greenhouse 2 and partly outside so as to be affected by conditions inside and outside of the greenhouse, and air from inside the greenhouse may be passed through a coiled tube inside the container 1.
