Abstract

1,195,365. Hydrostatic coupling. S.R.M. HYDROMEKANIK A.B. 19 June, 1967 [28 June, 1966], 28876/66. Heading F2C. [Also in Division F1] A hydrostatic coupling comprises a housing 13 connected to an input shaft 11 and containing gear pumps 14 attached thereto, one gear 15 of each pump meshing with a sun gear 25 fixed to an output shaft 12. Torque is transmitted from one shaft to the other when a valve 20 on each pump is closed partially or wholly to restrict or prevent flow of working fluid from a highpressure chamber 18 to a low-pressure chamber 17. Complete closure of the valves 20 prevents rotation of the gears of the respective pumps. The gears of each pump are lodged between pressure-loaded end-sealing plates, Figs. 3 to 7 (not shown).
