Abstract
1,194,406. Spinning apparatus. INVENTA A.G. FœR FORSCHUNG UND PATENTVERWERTUNG. 21 Sept., 1967 [21 Sept., 1966], No. 42970/67. Heading B5B. Apparatus for spinning composite filaments of at least two different polymers comprises the combination of a spinning head and at least two differently shaped sets of interchangeable guide pins for mounting in the head, the head comprising a spinneret plate having bores therethrough leading to the spinning orifices, a guide plate above the spinneret plate forming a mounting for the guide pins, one of which pins extends downwardly into each bore, and channels for the supply under pressure of the different polymers to each guide pin or to positions in each bore, the guide pins in any set having flats, slots or drillings formed in them and being so shaped that, in use, separate streams of the polymers are formed in the bores and these do not mix but are combined in the orifices to form composite filaments of the desired cross-section. In Figs. 27-45, which are typical of the many forms disclosed, the pins 4 have a central bore 5 for receiving and guiding one polymer component, while the second polymer enters at level X and travels in the spaces 7, 10, 11 between the bore and the shaped pins. Figs. 28, 34, 39 and 43 are sections along line A-A, Figs. 29, 35, 40 and 44 are sections along line B-B and the lowermost Figs. show the orifices 3. The filaments may have more than two components and to this end the guide pins may themselves be made of two or more interengaging component parts (Figs. 46, 49, 52). The filaments may also be of non-circular section and may also be hollow (Figs. 3-26).
