Abstract

1,194,149. Treating textiles. E.I. DU FONT DE NEMOURS & CO. 10 Dec., 1968 [13 Dec., 1967], No. 58555/68. Heading D1P. A woven fabric comprises warp yarns and filling yarns both of which are composed of a blend of synthetic polyester fibres and natural cellulosic fibres, e.g. cotton, either the warp yarns or the filling yarns having been treated with a textile resin producing press-free characteristics in the fabric. The fabric may be woven from yarns comprising synthetic polyester and natural cellulosic fibres, either the warp or filling yarns having been treated with the textile resin, pressed and heated to cure the textile resin. The textile resin is preferably a compound which reacts with the cellulose, to form a cross-linked structure. The impregnating composition preferably comprises an aqueous mixture of dimethyloldihydroxy ethylene urea, zinc nitrate as catalyst and octylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol as wetting agent. The fabrics may be used in the production of dress shirts and trousers.
