Abstract
1,194,061. Pressure exchangers. ROLLSROYCE Ltd. Jan. 13, 1969 [Jan. 17, 1968], No.2545/68. Heading F1N. A pressure exchanger rotor comprises a plurality of angularly spaced vanes 26 having radially inner and/or outer shroud portions 45, 34 collectively constituting the inner and/or outer shrouds respectively, the portions slidingly abutting each other in a manner such that differential thermal expansion between the shrouds and vanes is accommodated. The sliding abutments may be in the form of tongue and groove connections, Fig. 5 (not shown), circumferentially overlapping complementary steps on adjacent portions, or co-operating sloping surfaces 47. The sloping surfaces are forced against each other by making the assembly of vanes an interference fit. The centre of gravity of each shroud portion is circumferentially offset with respect to that of its vane whereby in operation, the centrifugal forces act to force the sloping surfaces together. Each vane has a dove-tail or cylindrical root 32 received in recesses in a hub.
