Abstract
1,189,572. Advancing mine roof supports. BERGWERKSVERBAND G.m.b.H. 26 Feb., 1968 [7 March, 1967], No. 9146/68. Heading E1P. An advancing mine roof support assembly comprising at least two frames 3, 3b interconnected by an advancing ram 4a and an aligning ram 7, 7a arranged as shown, is provided with steering means in the form of two jet means 9, 10 of which one is arranged to emit a fluid jet and the other respond thereto in accordance with the degree of alignment and thereby control the supply of fluid to the rams by way of amplified means 36. Compressed air from a line 6 is adapted to urge a piston 12 forwards and also issue from a nozzle 16. Forward motion of the piston advances a bush 18 until its cam surface 19 actuates a valve 20 to connect the line 6 with a line 5 and advance the frames. Misalignment of the frames causes the jet issuing from the nozzle 16 to be directed through one of a group of check valves 33 and thence through a line 34 or 35 to the associated amplifier controlling the supply of fluid to the aligning rams.
