Abstract

1,179,758. Advancing mine roof supports. GEWERKSGHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. 16 Nov., 1967 [20 Jan., 1967], No. 52236/67. Heading E1P. In an advancing mine roof support assembly comprising relatively adjustable frames A, B adapted to be selectively advanced by a doubleacting jack 19, 23 and wherein each prop 14, 15 and the jack are coupled to power and exhaust lines 2, 3 through a three-positional control valve 10 or 22, respectively, arranged as shown, the props are shiftable under limited roof loading conditions and to this end have their working chambers 12 connected to the exhaust side of the jack with the interposition in the exhaust circuit of a pressurelimiting valve 9 set to operate at a lower pressure than that of the prop setting valves 16. The above arrangement is such that should an advancing prop encounter a roof cavity it will be extended by exhaust fluid from the jack until the valve 9 is operated to connect the exhaust line 3 to a sump 5. The valve 9 is by-passed during robbing of the props by a control valve 7.
