Abstract
1,187,962. Metal roof structures. RUBEROID CO. Ltd. 5 May, 1967 [25 April, 1966], No. 17946/66. Heading E1K. A roof structure comprises a preformed plane panel 1 which spans between supporting .structures without intermediate support, the panel including two or more corrugated metal members 2 at least one adjacent pair of which are secured together in overlapping relationship by bolts which engage in slots in the metal members, and a series of reinforcing members 3 secured to the metal members transversely of the troughs. The roof structure may also include adjacent pairs of panels secured together in edge-to-edge or co-planar relationship. A layer 7 of thermal insulation such as a foamed synthetic resin may cover the external surface of the panel, over which a layer 8 of weatherproofing material is applied. The reinforcing members may be secured to the inner or outer faces of the panels and may be formed by pairs of members of Z-section. Adjacent metal members may be connected by an expansion joint.
