Abstract

[Also in Division F4] The supply of gas to a gas-heated water heater is controlled by a device 15 comprising a body 50 with a flange 51 for connection to the gas supply and a nozzle 52 for connection to the burner 11, which nozzle is connected with a control cylinder 53 having apertures 56 and upon which slides a gas-float 57 consisting of a guide cylinder 58 and control flange 59, the free end of cylinder 53 being sealed to a control chamber 60 having gas inlet openings 61. Pressure of gas entering openings 61 moves the cylinder 58 over openings 56 and the chamber 60 has an open end with a rim 602 which, by way of a duct 62 by-passing inlet openings 61, is in connection with the gas feed but the flow cross-section of duct 62 can be varied by means of a valve disc 65 on a double lever 66 to provide for a larger output level of the burner, the lever 66 being operated by a ram 75 operated in turn by an hydraulic switch 41 responsive to hot water being drawn from the system. The high and low levels of burner output may be set by means of limiting screws 70, 72 which limit travel of lever 66. A safety valve 14 is operated by a water deficiency cut-out 16.
