Abstract

1,185,038. Knobs and handles. G. & S. ALLGOOD Ltd. 29 March, 1967 [29 March, 1966], No. 13791/66. Heading A4U. [Also in Division E2] A door knob comprises a metal block A laterally bounded by a cylindrical surface which is interrupted on one side only of the knob by a finger groove A<SP>1</SP>. An integral or rigidly secured screw-threaded stem B is provided, or the knob is secured by screws to a plate which is secured by screws to the door. In a further modification a rotary operating knob F at each side of a door is rigidly secured by a grub screw P<SP>1</SP> to a squared actuating shaft P so that the finger groove F<SP>1</SP> can be orientated, a catch member G being urged from a lock casing H by a crank lever N<SP>1</SP>, N<SP>2</SP> and spring L. The catch member is retracted by engagement of a pin G<SP>3</SP> by an arm O<SP>2</SP> of a pivoted lever having a squared hole for passage of the actuating shaft. A plastic washer QQ<SP>1</SP> is preferably provided between a cylindical projection F<SP>4</SP> from the knob and a metal door, a metal plate on the surface of the door having a mortice lock or the metal of a surface lock casing.
