1,184,823. Making multi-track magnetic recording and reproducing heads. INSTYTUT MASZYN MATEMATYCZNYCH. 13 March, 1967 [12 March, 1966; 17 Jan., 1967], No. 11722/67. Heading G5R. A method of producing multi-track, single or multigap ferritic magnetic heads for recording and reproducing, comprises the steps of grinding at least two ferritic mouldings to a predetermined shape, aligning the mouldings apart to define an operational gap, pouring a liquid bonding material prepared from pulverized glass into the gap to form a glass bond between the two mouldings, gluing the bonded mouldings to a plate 8, carrying out machining operations on the mouldings including cutting the mouldings to form elementary heads disposed in tracks and each comprising two cores each of which has a magnetic pole adjacent the gap and a narrowed portion for a coil, positioning on the mouldings components including coils 11, screens 12, 14, anti-magnetic spacers 15, and armatures (16), Fig. 4 (not shown), covering the assembled unit with an epoxy resin, removing the plate 8, mounting the assembled unit in a housing 20, and removing excess material beyond an axis 4 to magnetically separate the elementary heads and shape the front of the multi-track head.
