Abstract

1,182,846. False-twisting crimping yarn. NIPPON RAYON CO. Ltd. 19 Feb., 1968 [17 Feb., 1967 (2)], No. 8049/68. Heading D1F. In a false-twist crimping process filaments are passed at least once around a pair of spaced rollers and during this passage are heated, and are then twisted, cooled and untwisted. A heater may be positioned inside of the loop of the filaments around the rollers, or heater plates may be positioned outside of the loop on each side thereof. The rollers may be heated. The filaments are cooled by contact with gas, liquid, or solid-for example by passage through a water-cooled pipe of stainless steel, glass, or synthetic resin-or by contact over one or more cooled metal blocks. The false-twister may be of the spindle or friction type.
