Abstract

1,180,593. Yarns. HEBERLEIN & CO. A.G. 20 Nov., 1967 [5 Dec., 1966], No. 52737/ 67. Heading D1W. In the production of fancy yarn at least two thermoplastic e.g. polyamide, polyester, polyvinyl, polyolefine or cellulose acetate, multifilament yarns are temporarily high twisted e.g. 1200-2500 turns/metre (optionally with permitted shrinkage of about 2%) and heat set, at temperatures which are similar or differ by up to 50‹C, in the twisted state and then combined into a ply yarn, two of the yarns being twisted in opposite twist direction with a difference in the number of twists per unit length, e.g. 300-2000 turns/metre, applied thereto, whereby one yarn in the ply yarn has a tendency to knot or loop and/or is knotted or looped and the other has the form, appearance and properties of a normal falsetwist crimp yarn. The yarn may be formed by use of conventional false-twist apparatus imparting the different twists and heater(s) e.g. hot air duct or yarn-contacting heated metal surface.
