Abstract

1,180,560. Automated dice-throwing apparatus. MAYFIELD ELECTRONICS Ltd. 23 Jan., 1968 [23 Oct., 1966], No. 42434/66. Heading A6H. An indoor game apparatus comprises a pair of dice, 13, which are contained in a cage, 14, large enough to permit their individual rotation relative thereto, a motor, 21, for intermittently rotating said cage, means, 11, permitting insertion into the apparatus of coins representing players' stakes, and pay-out means, 12, operative each time said cage comes to rest whereby the winnings (if any) of a player who inserted a coin during the last preceding pause of said cage are automatically delivered to such player in an amount depending upon the final reading of the dice. The recognition of the dice reading and the appropriate actuation of the pay-out means may be effected electronically, each of the dice containing a battery-powered oscillator whereby, on halting of the cage, a signal is radiated, at a frequency depending on whichever face of such dice happens to be uppermost, which may be picked up by a closed looped aerial, 27, disposed concentric with whichever happens to be the lower end of the cage and connected to a read-out system controlling said pay-out means. During each pause of the cage an oscillator may be automatically energised to re-charge the batteries in the dice through the medium of a second closed loop aerial, 32, disposed similarly to the first.
