Abstract

1,180,223. Pasting wallpaper. D. McMILLAN. 27 Feb., 1967 [25 Feb., 1966], No. 8358/66. Heading D1L. An adjustably positioned doctor device comprising a tensioned cord, or wire or rod 31, strip or brush extends transversely of a paste containing receptacle 4 on the side of a pick up drum 14 remote from a supply pressure roller 22 and adjacent a delivery pressure roller 23 and removes excess paste from the coated surface of wallpaper 10 fed from a roll 11. The pressure rollers 22 and 23 are journalled in a carriage 24 which is pivotally mounted either about the axis of roller 23 or about a parallel axis adjacent the roller 23, to allow for threading of the wallpaper. A similar adjustable doctor device 21 on the opposite side of drum 14 ensures that a predetermined thickness of paste is picked up by the drum. Each end of rod 31 is anchored to one arm of a cranked bracket 32 secured by a threaded stud extending through a slot 35 in the wall, due to which slot the height of rod 31 can be adjusted. Each end of rod 21 is anchored to one end of a manipulatable pivotal lever 18. Projections on the ends of the axis of roller 22 travel in arcuate slots 28 and are locked automatically by gravity operated catches 29 when the rollers are in their operative positions.
