Abstract

1,176,526. Hot-blast stoves. NIPPON KOKAN K.K. 14 April, 1967 [16 April, 1966; 28 March, 1967], No. 17286/67. Heading F4K. A hot-blast stove, in particular of the Cowper type, comprises a combustion chamber 2, heat accumulating chamber 4, a partition wall between said chambers, a dome 3 interconnecting said chambers, air and gas control valves 1, 9, 6 and 8 and a pile of preferably spherical members 10 made of a refractory material and having haphazard passages therebetween positioned at the top of said chamber 4, said pile increasing in depth in the direction from said partition wall This arrangement is said to prevent the one-sided flow of gas through the chamber 4. Perforations 11 are provided in the wall of the dome to form a layer of cold air in order to enhance deflection of the gas flow in said dome. Also located in the stove to prevent the biased flow of gas therethrough is a concave air guide 12 situated in a plenum chamber 5 at the bottom of chamber 4 and/or both circular and triangular posts for supporting the heat transfer mass in the chamber 4.
