Abstract

1,175,303. Sawing. E. BIGLIA, G. BIGLIA, E. BIGLIA, and C. BIGLIA, [trading as OFFICINE MECCANICHE E. BIGLIA & C.]. 30 Jan., 1968, No. 4679/68. Heading B5L. A composite circular saw comprises a central disc 1 of steel having a relatively high elasticity and deformability, and an outer peripheral crown 2, Fig. 2, which is provided with teeth 4 and is made of steel harder and less deformable than that of the central disc. The material of the central disc may be of non-hardenable steel which is thicker at the centre to form a hub 3 and is welded at 5 to the crown 2 which is of hardenable alloy steel. The central disc permits correction of deformation caused during manufacture. In another embodiment, the central disc consists of two sheet metal discs 6, 6<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, face-to-face and welded at their peripheries 9, 9<SP>1</SP> to the crown 10. The inner portion of the discs is shaped to receive a hub ring 8 and is welded thereto at 12, 12<SP>1</SP>.
