Abstract

1,175,217. Knitting. D. BROOK. 25 May, 1967, No. 24297/67. Headings D1C and D1K. A pile fabric having sinker pile loops of selectively varying height is produced on a circular machine by the provision of sinkers having an upper notched surface 14A over which the pile yarn is laid, the length of the pile loop being determined by the amount the sinker is projected. This latter movement is achieved by a rotatably adjustable cam 34 positioned between normal sinker actuating cams 28, 30 and which engages on the backs of the sinkers, or alternatively, the cam may be slidable and capable of screw adjustment. In a further alternative arrangement, a pattern wheel having selector bits which project different distances is provided and is rotatable to cause the bits to engage the butts of the sinkers and selectively advance them correspondingly to engage the pile yarn whereby the pile loops are drawn of different lengths.
