Abstract

1,175,148. Dehydrogenation catalysts. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 17 May, 1968 [23 June, 1967], No. 29180/67. Heading B1E. [Also in Division C5] An alumina base is so coated with a Pt group metal of crystal size up to 100k that at least 50% by weight of the noble metal is distant no greater than 1000Á from the outer surface of the support. Preferably the surface area of the Pt group metal is greater than 50 m<SP>2</SP>/gm and the A1 2 O 3 in the range 50-200 m<SP>2</SP>/gm. The catalyst may be actuated with alkali metal compounds e.g. formates, acetates nitrates or carbonates of Li, Na or K. Regeneration of spent catalyst may be effected with controlled quantities of oxygen or hydrogen.
