Abstract

1,174,977. Knitting; yarns. VYZKUMNY USTAV PIETARSKY. 3 March, 1967 [3 March, 1966], No. 10092/67. Headings D1K and D1W. Cords are formed from yarns knitted on small groups of needles of a warp knitting- machine to which the yarns from the guides of two guide bars are fed such that the outer wales are composed of loops formed in each course from a single yarn only whilst the centre wales are composed of loops formed in each course from two yarns as illustrated in Fig. 3. The completed knitted cords are wound up on a beam 31 and the nature of the structure causes the outer edges of the knitted fabric to curl inwardly to form a somewhat tubular cord. The structure may be in a tricot stitch or other warp knitted structure provided the outer wale or wales or each side is or are of single yarn loops whilst the centre portion is composed of loops formed in each course from two yarns.
