Abstract

1,174,948. Pipe couplings. QUICKFIT & QUARTZ Ltd. and W. J. CLARKE. 15 May, 1967 [8 Aug., 1966], No. 22341/67. Divided out of 1,138,177. Heading F2G. A coupling, for example, for connecting a glass tube 3 to a flask 1, includes a moulded collar 18 of plastics material, e.g. polypropylene, consisting of two semicircular portions hinged together by a thin bridge and having opposed unconnected ends extending lengthwise of the collar, each of the portions being provided with a screw-thread 10, and a cap 13 having open ends and an internal screw-thread complementary to that of the collar portions. As shown, the flask and tube have complementary conical portions 4, 5 and the cap, when screwed on to the collar, causes a rubber washer 19 to engage a projection 6 on the tube 3.
