Abstract

1,173,204. Cooking appliances. J. HOLMAR. 13 March, 1968 [14 March, 1967], No. 11806/67. Heading A4A. A culinary appliance, particularly for use in the cooking of rice, comprises a flat perforated disc adapted to fit within a saucepan to provide a false bottom therefor and having a dependent peripheral flange which has apertures or notches to allow free passage of liquid beneath said disc, the width of the disc perforations being not greater than 5/64 inch. The disc of aluminium, stainless steel or heat-resistant glass may have circular perforations 5/64 inch in diameter or short, straight or curved slits 5/64 inch wide. The culinary appliance preferably has an overall height of ¢-1 inch and is so dimensioned that, when placed in a saucepan, the radial clearance between the flange and saucepan wall is not greater than 5/64 inch.
